8th April to 10th May
Week one – Selected a sound 15 seconds long and started to think about character designs and narrative structure techniques like platform tilt and types of conflict. Also diversity in design and designing characters with motion in mind.
-Selected an audio clip, from the musical “the guy who didn’t like musicals.” -Made Mood boards for environments, character and vibes -Created two character designs for the two characters -Created an a storyboard
Week two – Looked at aesthetic choices in film such as painting backgrounds in greyscale before to decide mood and light sources to create unity and warmth and using cool/warm colours. Decided on using bright warm colours and a small amount of texture and many references.
-Made two backgrounds -Made an animatic synched to the audio -Made character breakdowns and turn arounds for each character -Made a mouth shapes sheet
Week three – Looked at how x-sheets are used to synch frames with movement and how to create them by scrubbing through sound frame by frame. Also learned how to use Toon-Boom, setting up the project, importing images and sound, exporting and hot-keys.
-Made an x-sheet -Created all the Key frames in Toon-Boom
Week four – Looked at creating timing charts and inbetweening frames between key frames and using smear frames for fast movements. also line thickness and colouring in Toon-Boom. Probably should have should have tried to finish all the animation and in-betweens by the end of this week. Inbetweening the film -Learned a bit on compositing in After Effects and Exporting from Toon-Boom.
Week five – Continued Inbetweening the film and screened the films on Friday. Completed animating and inbetweening and screened the films.
Continued- Coloured the characters, Composited the film in After Effects and added some extra effects. Finally finished and uploaded the film to You-Tube.
